Excerpt: “The U.S. Forest Service and oil and gas developers are juggling court cases.
A hearing was held in November to determine if the Forest Service was in contempt of a December 2010 federal court ruling. The ruling imposed an injunction on the Allegheny National Forest’s activities that were, according to oil and gas development plaintiffs, preventing drilling and causing the loss of millions of dollars.
District Judge Sean McLaughlin has not issued a decision from that hearing. He allowed the litigants 30 days from the date when transcripts were available to make post-hearing filings. The 30-day period will end in about two weeks…..”
